Let’s Talk About “Social Media vs. Reality”

We live in a world where things such as, “relationship/friendships goals” are a thing on social media. Social Media is also an outlet where people can be whoever they want to portray to be. Nine times out of ten, what’s displayed on social media isn’t really the person’s reality, some would call it “Keeping up with the Joneses”. You should never want to live your life comparing it to others’, especially when it’s a possibility it’s not the other person’s reality anyways.

How to Reduce Social Media Comparisons:

-Reduce your social media use

-Dig internally–why are you spending time comparing yourself to others?

-Know your triggers and avoid them

-Concentrate on your own identity

-Don’t undermine your own success

I once wrote a blog post titled, “Let’s Talk About Going At Your “OWN” Pace”. Here’s a piece of what I mentioned in the post, “We all may have similar goals in mind, but that doesn’t mean our route and timeframe to get there will be the same. There might be some things in life you have to experience, such as struggles that will help build patience and character. All those things will make your success story more significant than the next person.”

As I re-read what I wrote back in November 2019, it made me grateful for how much I’ve grown since then. It simply just makes you appreciate the journey a lot more. You don’t have to spend your time comparing yourself to others, but just continue to go at your own flow. Instead compare yourself to…YOURSELF! Focus on being better than the person you were yesterday. You should also become more content with what you have, not focusing on what you don’t have. GET OUT OF YOUR OWN HEAD; STOP SOCIALLY COMPARING YOURSELF–I AM FOREVER ROOTING FOR YOU!
